THE MOVEMENT OF BLACK MUSIC BY IFEDAYO OLUSEYE (EYESOFLAGOS)

Black music is a term encompassing music produced or inspired by Black People, this includes Sub-Saharan African music traditions and popular African music as well as music genres of the other African Diaspora including Afro-Caribbean music and African American music. In the Black community music serves as an instrument of unity and revolution. The most popular genres include blues, jazz, funk, soul, R&B and most recently hip-hop and trap. Another important fact is that music in Black community has its visible roots in Africa. The ability to act as a binding factor also provides the Black culture with a strong sense of connectivity. Most prominent Black  artists in Black history are Bob Marley (Reggae), Fela Kuti(Afro-Pop), Jay z(Hip-Hop), Usher(R&B) and Trap music could be seen in artists like Wiz- Khalifa, Desiigner and so on. Music in Black community is just much more than entertainment.
