Heavy Downpour: Parts Of Lagos Flooded As Electric Pole Falls In Gbagada

Following the heavy downpour on Thursday, May 25, 2017, some parts of Lagos have been left flooded with motorists, commuters and other passerby having difficulty to access these areas.
Due to the torrential rainfall, the drain pipes and gutters on DIya Street, Gbagada were blocked leading to flooding in the area. As a result, residents and other motorists have a difficult time in maneuvering the flood in the area.
The development however led to a concern for residents of the area who condemned the flood after the rainfall. The residents opined that for the road to be flooded with such a little downpour, then there would be much flood once it rains continuously in the axis.
This however prompted the residents to call on the government to come to their aid in the community.
Similarly, commuters along the usually busy WAEC bus stop few meters away from Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) were left to move along a water-logged area due to the downpour.
Part of the road which connects Herbert Macaulay Way to the popular Jibowu bus stop was flooded with motorists spending longer time to access the road.
Furthermore, a resident of Gbagada community has called on power distribution network, Ikeja Electric to swiftly react to fallen concrete electric poles and high tension cables in the area.
The high tension cables according to the resident fell beside the Deeper Life construction site in Ifako-Gbagada yesterday, Wednesday, May 24, 2017.
If urgent action is not taken, the incident could lead to loss of innocent lives and properties in Gbagada.
