School Kidnap: LASG Initiate Moves To Prevent Reoccurrence, To Build Watchtowers In Schools

As a direct response the recent kidnap attacks at the Igbo Nla Model College near Epe, the Lagos State Government (LASG) has flagged off the construction of a watchtower to be mounted with security cameras in public schools across the state.In addition, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has permanently deployed armed security operatives and commenced installation of forty 250-watts halogen lamps for security surveillance in schools.
Eyes Of Lagos gathered that, The development was made public by the Public Affairs Officer of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Adesegun Ogundeji, during the announcement of the reopening of Igbo Nla Model College yesterday, Monday, June 5, 2017.
“Teaching and learning resume at the Model College, Igbonla today. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Adesina Odeyemi and the Tutor-general/Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Margaret Solarin were at the school for a first-hand assessment of the situation,” he said.
He added that “the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, and the Divisional Commander of Neighbourhood Safety Corps, Mr. Semi Lateef, were also on the ground to further ensure safety.”
You would recall that the kidnappers have demanded a ransom and advised the mortified parents of the victims to meet with the school authorities and plan how to raise the money.
While the affected parents are left to deal with the trauma, other parents had trooped to the school in their numbers to withdraw their children.
