Hoodlums Seize Taskforce Officer’s Gun In Ikeja

There was mild drama in the Ikeja end of Lagos Mainland earlier today, February 27, 2018, following the unusual situation that occurred in the community.
It was gathered that the team of the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce got more than it bargained in the community when it visited the area in an attempt to arrest suspected miscreants on Ajao road, Ikeja Lagos Mainland.
The Taskforce team may have acted on a tipoff about the unusual convergence of over 500 Nigerien and Chadians in clusters along Ajao road/ Obanta junction. The foreigners usually gather at regular hangout with one Alhaji Haruna, a Nigerien who sells cigarette and other petty provisions in the community.
Eyes Of Lagos gathered that the hoodlums outnumbered the Taskforce team whose personnel in fracas, lost a gun to the foreigners. However, Alhaji Haruna was said to have returned the gun to the MAN Center Divisional Police station before he was subsequently detained by the operatives.
Alhaji Haruna had operated the tobacco chain store for over 30 years within the Ajao / Adeniyi Jones road mentoring his Nigerien immigrants franchising tobacco stores and ‘Okada’ hire purchase business supplying his Nigeriens brothers on hire purchase, Lagos Panorama reports.
Commenting on the incident, the CDA Chairman of the area, Mr. Yemi Adebowale who expressed his fears on the sudden invasion of the community by the foreigners said: “The sudden surge of the Nigeriens in the community since late last year calls for concern. They are a big threat to our community. We have about two occasions where they gang up to beat innocent members of the community”.
However, the DPO MAN Center, Tanaruna Anthonia, debunked story that the miscreants seized the gun of a Taskforce personnel saying: “They didn’t seize any gun. We still have Haruna with us under interrogation. We need to reduce the numbers of these foreigners in this neighborhood.”
