Tension As Drug Peddlers Take Over Part Of Ifako-Ijaiye LG

Residents of Mojisola street in Ifako-Ijaiye community have cried out on the increased number of people especially youths have turned the area into a mini hub to peddle drugs and other banned substances.
Sources in the community told Eyes Of Lagos that youths including teenage girls now openly smoke Indian hemp and use other hard drugs in the area.
Eyes Of Lagos  gathered that there was pandemonium in the area yesterday, Wednesday, April 25, 2018, when some residents who fear for the impact the situation could have on their kids protested the actions of youths.
It was learnt that the issue was also brought to the attention of major stakeholders in the community including the Community Development Association in order to find a lasting solution to the menace.
According to a source, residents now fear to use the street for fear of being attacked by the drug peddlers. “If you passed through that place yesterday (Wednesday), it was something else completely. People that don’t have a strong will to either walk fast or use an alternative route can’t use the road because of fear,” the source said.
Another resident told Eyes Of Lagos that: “There is need for the appropriate authorities to nip this open disregard to threat to the lives of the peace loving people of Ifako-Ijaiye before the spread of the dastard act to other areas not only in the community but Lagos state as a whole.”
Meanwhile, a resident noted that the issue has been reported to security operatives. The source added that the community expects that the security operatives would ensure a prompt action is taken on those involved in the act.
